Maldives Crisis: President Declared Emergency

The Maldives goes unrest after Supreme Court issued an order to free top opposition leaders that includes former President Mohamed Nasheed and former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.  Defying the  SC order, the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom on Monday night declared a 15-day state of emergency. "During this time though certain rights will be restricted, general movements, services, and businesses will not be affected," Yameen added.  The situation between the current president and the SC increasingly getting into a bitter standoff position. "This declaration is unconstitutional and illegal," former President Mohamed Nasheed.readmore@ANI
