On WhatsApp's payments feature, Paytm Founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma has said, "We are opening our banking system to the biggest of possible fraud." Sharma accused National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) of favoring foreign players as three-factor authentication is mandatory for all Indian payment players, then why not in case of WhatsApp. He thundered during an interview with CNBC, “Facebook isn’t just an evil company, it’s the most evil company in the world...Mark Zuckerberg is known for playing cheap business tactics. No guarantee of fulfilling Rajasthan budget announcement

Rajasthan government led by Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has announced big budget ahead of the polls scheduled later this year. This Rajasthan gov. budget emphasises on ₹8,000-crore loan waiver for farmers (one-time crop loan waiver up to ₹50,000 for small and marginal farmers, exemption of Lagaan on land and constitution of Rajasthan state Farmers Debt Relief Commission for settlement of crop loans on merit basis),  ₹650 crore tax relief and ₹44,135 crore expenditure on social and community schemes. An FIR against Giriraj Singh (BJP MP from Nawada and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) and 32 others has been lodged on 2nd Feb by the order of a Special SC&ST court as a Dalit resident, Ram Narain Prasad, from Asopur village Bihar, alleged that the accused grabbed his 2 acres and 6 decimal of land. “Following the court order, an FIR has been filed under the relevant sections of the IPC and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against all the 33 accused… an investigation is on,”, the SHO of Danapur police station in Patna district Sandeep Kumar Singh said.readmore@The Hindu

All families of a village in Arunachal Pradesh become 'Crorepati'

All 31 families of Bomja village in Tawang district in Arunachal Pradesh have got more than crore as Defence Ministry has given ₹40 crore to acquire 200.056 acres of land. One family received ₹6.7 crore and another received ₹2.4 crore while other 29 families received ₹1.09 crore each. Import duty on sugar raised to 100% and BCD on chana to 40%

The government has doubled import duty on sugar from 50% to 100% and raised Basic Customs Duty (BCD) on chana from 30% to 40% to protect domestic farmers. The aim is to curb cheaper imports and ensure lucrative prices to domestic farmers. India’s sugar production has been increased from 20.3 million tonnes(MT) in 2016-17, as per industry data to 26.1 MT in the current 2017-18 marketing year (October-September) that is approximately 4% more. Income Tax, Who pays more?

Tax exemption of up to ₹50,000 interest earned from bank deposits and Post Office schemes saves almost ₹15450 tax of senior citizen. ₹40,000 standard deduction has been announced for salaried individuals. But medical reimbursement of ₹15,000 per annum and the transport allowance of ₹19,200 per annum are withdrawn by the Gov. Also health and education cess are increased from 3% to 4%. Income having ₹60 lakh per annum will pay ₹13,354 more, ₹1.2 crore will pay ₹33,868 more, above ₹10 lakh with 30 percent tax rate will shell out ₹2,625 more,  ₹5 to ₹10 lakh with 20 percent tax rate will lose ₹1125,  and ₹2.5 lakh to ₹5 lakh will have to pay only ₹25 more in their income tax.readmore@Economic Times

Modicare covers 10Cr. Families

Ten crore poor and vulnerable families are going to be benefited by The National Health Protection Scheme (NHPS) also termed as 'Modicare'. FM Arun Jaitley had termed the plan as "the world's largest government-funded healthcare programme that will cover fifty crore beneficiaries". The initiative will provide ₹5 lakh annual cover to each family that will in sum total requires ₹11,000 crore in state and central funding. Indian Defence gets 7.81% more fund in FY2018-2019

Indian gov. allocated an increased defence budget of  ₹2.95 lakh crore for FY 2018-2019, which is 7.81% more than the last year's ₹2.74 lakh crore. ₹1.85 lakh crore is going to be allocated to revenue expenditures which comprise salaries, training, and general services. The amount of around ₹93 thousand crores, allocated for capital expenditure, includes modernization related expenses. And ₹16 thousand crores are estimated for miscellaneous expenses. Flipkart Delivered Detergent Bar at ₹55K; FIR Launched

Tabrej Mehaboob Nagrali, a 26-year-old software engineer,  filed an FIR against e-commerce major Flipkart in Byculla police station in central Mumbai for allegedly delivering a detergent bar instead of an iPhone 8. He already made the full payment of ₹55,000. When PTI approached Flipkart, his spokesperson told that the company is already initiated an inquiry into the incident.

Carry your PAN while transacting over ₹2.5 lakh

In the proposed Finance Bill 2018, Gov. of India made 10-digit Permanent Account Number (PAN) mandatory for entities entering into a financial transaction of ₹2.5 lakh or more, effective from April 1, 2018. India has been ranked 6th in the list of wealthiest countries with the total wealth of USD 8,230 billion and rated as best performing market globally with 25% wealth growth, whereas the US wealthiest in the list with USD 64,584 billion, according to a report by New World Wealth. Deductions that income taxpayers can claim

Now, taxpayers can avail a maximum deduction of ₹1.5 lakh. This can be claimed on equity oriented mutual funds notified by central government, fixed deposits, pension schemes, PPF, EPF, and life insurance premium. HRA is partly exempted from tax for salaried people. Revised GDP growth rate for FY 2016-2017

FY16-17 GDP growth was revised to 8.2 % from the earlier projection of 8 % because of the use of latest available data on agricultural production and industrial production. India’s annual economic growth in the financial year that ended in March 2017 was unchanged at 7.1 percent, the central statistics office said on Wednesday.
